Proteus operates the National Farmworker Jobs Program Grant which is a program of the Federal Department of Labor. A position is available in the Proteus Lincoln, Nebraska office for Regional Director. This position supervises five staff members who recruit qualifying individuals to the job training program and assists these clients in achieving their educational and career goals. The Regional Director reports to the CEO of Proteus. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.



SPECIFIC EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible and accountable for the coordination, supervision, and outcomes of various programs and grants of Proteus, including but not limited to National Farmworker Jobs Program
  • Organizes staff and self to carry out established program goals, performance goals, and general activities of programs
  • Establishes program budgets and maintains responsibility for actual outcomes relative to the budget
  • Identifies technology needs and the appropriate technological tools for program staff and is responsible for the use and maintenance of the hardware and software tools
  • Supports the efforts of organizational expansion through strategic planning and performing duties of new programs and projects
  • Responsible for safeguarding confidential and sensitive data
  • Assigns, monitors and supervises activities of regional office staff
  • Reviews and authorizes paperwork and maintains required files
  • Supervises program and grant specific activities to ensure compliance with corporate and funding source standards
  • Assesses the need for and recommends staff training and development to the Program Director and/or CEO
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with community agencies, vendors, health providers, and employers
  • Acts as staff representative on various community committees and attends various staff meetings
  • Maintains and disseminates knowledge of grant and program guidelines (or other funding sources) relating to eligibility and other program functions
  • Authorizes supportive services and direct supplies to program participants as needed
  • Attends corporate supervisory, Board of Directors and task-oriented meetings as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Sufficient educational background to be able to demonstrate the ability to fulfill the responsibilities of this position. Such abilities might normally be demonstrated by a candidate having completed two years of college in Business Administration, Social Science or a related field.

Experience: One year experience in counseling, administration, supervision and/or manpower training. Experience working with farmworker populations highly desirable.

Specific Knowledge: Ability to communicate in Spanish is desired.

License and Certificates: Access to reliable transportation, valid driver's license and minimum car insurance required by state law.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Must possess the physical capabilities to perform the following:
reaching, handling, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, stooping, and bending.
