Nelli Italian Greyhound Adult Female for sale in Lincoln, Nebraska

Nelli's story
Sweet, beautiful 9 yo Little Miss Nelli comes to us from the south and is continuing her social rehabilitation in one of our wonderful foster homes in Lincoln, NE. She is new to us so we are still learning about her. What we do know is she came from a puppy mill living out her entire life in a cage. No way for a dog to live. She is now exploring and learning how to be a dog and how to trust and also how to be someone's pampered pet. She will need a home with someone who is saavy with puppy mill dogs or real timid dogs. We do want her to have a fenced yard as she LOVES to zoom around and run, run, run and 'hunt'. She deserves that after so many years in a cage. She does great with her foster IG siblings and loves to snuggle up with them and learns the 'ropes' from them. She has been great with the two other large dogs in the home as well. However, they are calm and not the playful type. She is nervous around large, playful and active dogs. She seems to really enjoy kids as long as they are kind and respectful. She has been learning leash skills and has been enjoying neighborhood walks as of lately. She is going outside to potty beautifully when let outside and is also potty pad trained for inclement weather. She does crate nicely and quiety overnight without a peep and while foster mom is away. She does not prefer to sleep with her human, at least at this time. At this time, she is more dog attached than human attached but we are hoping with more time and love, this will change. She is not a jump in your lap and snuggle kind of dog right now but will allow petting when she is snuggled up to her IG foster siblings. They bring her comfort and we do want her in a home with another small dog or two. If you think you can provide Nelli a patient, safe and nurturing home while understanding that right now she is not the typical 'follow you all around the house and jump in your lap and snuggle you under the covers' IG, please get in touch with us. These mill dogs do make wonderful strides once they leave the mill behind but it can take quite a long time and it is very rewarding to watch. Please visit us at midwestigrescue.com to learn more about the adoption process and to fill out an application. We do require an adoption donation fee to help us cover the cost of vetting while they are in our care. This fee varies depending on their age. Our applicaton process consists of a completed application, vet and two personal reference checks and home visit. We do require that your resident pets be spayed or neutered and have routine veterinary care and check-ups. Our dogs are available for adoption in Nebraska and Iowa and will be considered for adoption to surrounding states (within a reasonable day drive). We DO NOT transport or ship dogs. You would be responsible for picking up from foster home. If you are in a state other than NE or IA, you will need to work with your state's IGCA representative in order to get your application processed and approved before being considered. Please use the website igrescue.com to find your state's affilate and rescue representative. Thank you for your understanding!
