Howdy!
Wouldn't you like to hunt pheasants and quail in southwest Nebraska at Five Bears Hunting Lodge? I have 700 acres of private land and more than 1500 acres of public land CRP surrounding my hunting lodge. It is very remote, but not really that far from McCook, which has a 24 hour super Wal-Mart in case you forget something. The lodge is actually a remodeled farmhouse where my wife and I used to live, until we had too many little bears. It has one bedroom with a double bed and a big bedroom with two double beds. In the living-room it has two sleeper sofas so it can sleep five very comfortably. I also have a nice mattress type cot for a cub (hunters 14 and under hunt free). I furnish the towels, blankets, soap, cooking utensils and plates, cups, silverware, etc. You furnish your own food and beer, etc. It has a coffee maker, can opener, toaster, microwave, full size fridge and electric stove, washer and dryer, shower/bath, and DirecTV. It also has a fireplace, pool table, grill, and modern propane forced-air furnace.
COSTS.
The lodge rents for $50 per night for two people, and $75 per night for three or more hunters (for 5 hunters it would only cost $15 per hunter). The price to hunt is $75 per day per hunter, and during December only $50 per day (I would not recommend hunting in December for the inexperienced. The birds are smart and hard to find.) There is a three day/three night minumum and you must have at least two hunters in your party. Last year I had a lot of pheasants and experienced hunters did very well. I have seen little pheasants and their mommys everywhere this summer and expect pheasant numbers to be as good as last year. Quail have also done good this year. Last year was an average year for them. One group of hunters got into 5 big and separate coveys in one day. This year will be even better.
OTHER GAME
I also have great turkey, deer, dove, bobcat, and coyote hunting. If you are hunting pheasants and accidently kill a turkey you will not hurt my feelings--I have too many. Deer too. I have 90 percent muley-deer and those rifle permits were sold out in less than a day. To sit in my trees with a bow or black powder rifle and hope a deer or turkey comes along is only $50 per day. You can stay at the lodge ($50 per night, 3 night minimum), but you are not required to when bow hunting.
WAIVERS
The lodge is called Five Bears Lodge and you will be required to sign a waiver. I have over 1500 acres of big grass CRP, 700 acres of rolling grassland pastures, irrigated corn (110 acres), milo (120), dryland corn (75), and many big canyons with weeds and plum bushes. If you book a hunt, I require a deposit of 50 percent.
AVAILABILITY
As of right now, 10-5, the only dates left open for pheasant/quail hunters are Nov. 7-11 and everything after Nov. 21.
